Since 1818, we’ve learned a lot—from protecting our fingers to perfecting the balance of our knives—but one thing has always been clear: our customers choose us, and we take that responsibility seriously. That’s why we obsess over every detail, never take shortcuts, and craft our proprietary American steel blades to meet the demands of both professional and home kitchens. With more than 1,000 unique styles, the vast majority of our knives and tools are made by about 250 skilled craftspeople in Massachusetts, blending time-honored techniques with modern technology. After more than 200 years, we’ve nearly perfected the craft of knifemaking—not for the sake of being the largest manufacturer, but to ensure every slice, dice, and mince is done right when it matters most.
